Supreme Court Victory

Our attorneys successfully defended San Juan County landowners in a Washington State Supreme Court case. In that case, a neighbor appealed a building permit granted to our clients. The building permit was for a room to be built above an existing garage, and the neighbor unsuccessfully and repeatedly sued both our clients and San Juan County to have the building permit overturned.

The neighbor initially appealed the permit to the San Juan County Hearing Examiner. The Examiner denied the appeal. The neighbor then appealed the dismissal of his case to the San Juan County Superior Court, the Skagit County Superior Court, and the Court of Appeals — all of which affirmed the prior dismissals. The neighbor finally appealed the decisions the Washington State Supreme Court. The Supreme Court affirmed all of the prior dismissals of the neighbor’s appeals, and ordered that the neighbor pay our clients’ attorney’s fees and costs.
