WORK EXPERIENCE
April, 1990 to Present:
Bill has a general civil practice, focusing on real estate and land use, County permits and appeals, contract law, litigation, general corporate and business work, probate and estate planning. Throughout his career he has worked on a wide variety of sophisticated real estate and business transactions and complex litigation cases, including real estate partition actions and other real-estate related litigation. In addition, he has drafted and negotiated numerous leases, purchase and sale agreements, business loan agreements and contracts. Together with his other strengths, he has been very successful at overturning Permit Center decisions, and at securing project approvals in the face of strong opposition. His high rate of repeat business testifies to client satisfaction. He has represented a variety of large clients, including KeyBank National Association, the Inns at Friday Harbor, and Bank of America Trust Department (Formerly Seafirst).
July, 1990 - January, 1991:
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for San Juan County, assigned to civil matters. While waiting for his first office space to be completed, Bill worked for the Prosecutor's office approximately 3 days a week. He was offered the job on a permanent, full-time basis, but declined so that he could develop his own law practice.
1985-1990:
Attorney for Damon Corporation in Boston, Massachusetts. Damon Corporation provides clinical laboratory services to health care providers across the nation. Until the end of 1989, Damon also had interests in biotechnology, hobby products, and medical instruments and equipment. While at Damon, Bill was responsible for negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, financing agreements, distribution agreements, joint venture agreements, service agreements with other health care entities, and commercial contracts of various types. He also was responsible for various risk management and litigation management matters, for all personnel matters (including drafting responses to discrimination complaints), and for a wide variety of real estate agreements, including leases and purchase and sale agreements.
1982-1985:
Associate at Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, a major Boston law firm. From 1982-1983 Bill was assigned to the real estate department, where he was responsible for a large number of commercial and residential purchases, sales and leases. In 1983, Bill rotated to the business section in accordance with the firm's normal rotation program. While in the business section, he handled matters of increasing responsibility over a wide range of subjects, including administrative law matters, licensing agreements, the organization of a bank, loan transactions, securities law matters, takeover defenses and acquisitions. He also worked on litigation matters, including the drafting of demand letters, complaints, answers and various motions together with supporting briefs.
1981:
Summer associate with Seyfarth, Shaw, Fairweather & Geraldson, a labor law firm in Chicago, Illinois.
1979-1980:
Industrial Relations Manager for I.T.T. in Clear, Alaska. This position included responsibility for all personnel matters, including labor relations, at the Clear site and at six Defense Early Warning Line installations.
1973-1979:
Employed by Johnson and Johnson in a series of increasingly responsible positions in the area of labor relations. Bill's responsibilities included handling grievances and participating in negotiations, arbitrations and mediations.
EDUCATION
1980-1982:
University of Chicago Law School. J.D. awarded June, 1982, with honors. Class rank: top 1%. Member of Order of the Coif, a legal honorary society.
1977-1979:
Loyola University School of Law, evening division. Class rank: top person in class.
1971-1973:
Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations. M.S. Degree. Grade point average: 3.6/4.0.
1965-1970:
State University of New York at Albany. B.A. degree, psychology major. Dean's List and a 4.0/4.0 average his senior year.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Bill has served on the Board of Directors of the San Juan Island Community Foundation, of which he was a founding member, the Board of Governors of the Skagit Valley College Foundation, the Board of Directors of North Islands Institute, and the Board of Trustees for the San Juan Island Library District.
Bill enjoys all outdoor sports. For example, he enjoys both sail and power boating, backpacking, and is an expert downhill skier. Bill also is a sculptor. You can see his work at weissingerstudios.com.
